Easter is Here!! Fun Craft for Kids

With Easter and spring break just at our fingertips, I wanted to do a fun little post for you all! I'm so excited for the warm weather, the smell of flowers (minus spring allergies), pool time, and popsicles! I probably get a little carried away with the weather, but it really does symbolize something for me! I love the crisp, cool air and rain too, so I'll be missing my sweaters and boots. But 'ya can't have it all, am I right? Anyway, we have spring break coming, and that means the kids will be home and bored without something to do. Even if you're going on vacation, it's nice to have some downtime at home! Today I'm sharing a cute, fun, and EASY DIY/craft to do with kids, perfect for spring, even if you don't celebrate Easter! And yes, it's actually easy, no lie. P.S. still fun to do on Easter weekend if you don't have spring break!

Here's what you need:

- tissue paper of choice

- paintbrush

- liquid glue of any kind (washable is good for the kids)

- jar(s) of choice (The ones you don't want anymore! Vases work too!)

- scissors (forgot to put in the photo ;) )

*You can use Mod Podge or washable glue doesn't matter either way! Paintbrush is optional, just makes it a little less messy.

Cut the tissue paper into small squares. You could cut into other small + big shapes for some fun variation, but I just did regular squares. Great for kids to do if they're learning to cut since tissue paper is so thin, it'd work with those dull, kid-safe scissors!

Take the paintbrush and dip it into your glue. Paint a thin layer onto the jar. Then take a tissue paper square or two and put it onto the glued area. You can use the brush or your fingers to spread the tissue paper onto the glued area and press it on. As you can probably tell, I took this part to do outside, and it isn't really that messy, but I'd recommend laying something out, especially with kids. Now you can just keep painting on a bit of glue to the jar, pasting on the tissue paper, and pressing the tissue paper down. An optional step is to paint glue or sealant onto the tissue paper after you're all done. I did follow up with that step, but it's not entirely necessary, just makes the jar last longer.

And there you have it! That's it! So fun, really simple, and slightly addicting! You could get really into it and do super elaborate designs too. Something like covering the entire jar with tissue paper except for a small part in the front, and leaving the empty part in the shape of an egg for Easter would be fun! I like to use the jars I've made as decor, but you could fill them with candy, goodies, or even put flowers inside. Endless possibilities !

P.S. I just love Easter colors. I think that holiday has my favorite colors! I love light and bright and pastel! I would love to share more decor, interior design things here on my blog. Is that something you want to see?! It's not my best strength (lol), but I love furniture, decor type of stuff! Anyways, last year I spray painted these giant eggs of mine gold. The more I look at it, the more I like it! It was so simple to do, but really makes the decorations look fancier. Don't get me wrong, I don't go to town with Easter decor, or the holiday itself really, but this year I wanted to put it in just a bit more effort for this small shelf in front of my TV. The bunnies are made of a small hand towel from my neighbor! (Maybe that will be next year's DIY post!?) I put this decor on the opposite sides of my shelf, so I used the same color, (blue), Easter egg to pull the two together. (I try to talk like an interior designer but I'm not lol!) Anyway, just a little inspiration for you!

P.P.S. Any colors/season would work with this DIY! I started making these back in November and put fake candles inside. I didn't decide to make it a blog post until now, though. Glitter is messy, but fun to put on the jar as well!

That's all for this blog post! Happy Easter to you all! If you're on spring break, hope it is relaxing and enjoyable for you! Thanks so much for reading until the end! Please tag me on Instagram @kateandblog if you recreate this DIY!
